Wood Design II

In my wood design II course IENG 723 – Wood Design II – Syllabys – 2019, I cover the design of wooden floor and lateral load resisting systems.

Course objective

  1. to help you understand the behavior of lateral load resisting systems;
  2. to help you understand the behavior of floor systems; and;
  3. to help you gain team‐working and problem‐solving skills.

More specifically, the students will be able to:

  1. Design light‐frame shearwalls, diaphragms and floors according to CSA‐086;
  2. Design mass‐timber walls and floors according to CSA‐086;
  3. Design timber‐concrete composite floors according to EN1995;
  4. Apply seismic design concepts;
  5. Understand the parametric design process..
