Wood design I

In my wood design I course IENG 613 – Wood Design I – Syllabys – 2019, I cover the structural design of timber members and connections.

Course objectives:

1. to help students understand the behavior of timber as a structural material;
2. to develop the ability to design timber structural elements and connections;
3. to help students gain team-working and problem-solving skills.

More specifically, undergraduate students taking CIVL 439 will be able to:

1. Relate the material properties of timber to its application as a structural material;
2. Design bending, tension and compression members according to CSA-086; and
3. Design connections according to CSA-086.
