In my wood design I course IENG 613 – Wood Design I – Syllabys – 2019, I cover the structural design of timber members and connections.
Course objectives:
- to help students understand the behavior of timber as a structural material;
- to develop the ability to design timber structural elements and connections;
- to help students gain team-working and problem-solving skills.
More specifically, undergraduate students taking CIVL 439 will be able to:
- Relate the material properties of timber to its application as a structural material;
- Design bending, tension and compression members according to CSA-086; and
- Design connections according to CSA-086.
